In San Francisco on May 20th, 2010 a group of queer and transgender migrant youth rise from gender based oppression, rise from poverty, and rise from self-destruction with the aid of their drag elders. Together as a community we RISE from WRECKAGE to ROYALTY.
A queer and trans youth-led benefit, drag, and fashion show for our community by our community.

—–You are officially invited to join the LGBT Center’s Youth Program for their Queer Youth Drag Show, “Wreckage to Royalty”! This youth-oriented fundraising event is a great opportunity for you and your friends to come together and support some of the most at-risk members of the LGBT community today: queer and transgender youth.
“Wreckage to Royalty” is honored to have Trannyshack’s Heklina as its hostess and sponsorship by the Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence. The night will feature fabulous young drag performers strutting and cutting their drag teeth on the stage, many bright and colorful special guest performers, and burlesque stars for your enjoyment! This is not a night to miss so put it on your calendar, dress in your finest of outfits (drag is encouraged) and come prepared to help queer youth have an energetic evening to be proud of. Donations will be accepted all night long and will benefit the LGBT’s Youth Program.

Learn the art of the tease in 1 hour; history, revival, burlesque moves, character development costuming, and more! You will even learn your very first burlesque routine! Get ready to pack your mind and move your body! Sexy and SMART!
What to bring:
• Comfortable heels you can move in.
• Tight-fitting dance clothes (i.e. a leotard and tights, leggings and a tank top, etc.) so the instructor can observe and correct the positioning of your body with ease.
• A button down shirt.
• Please note that hair should be secured away from the face and neck and no dangling jewelry will be permitted.
Boas and gloves will be provided.
2pm-3pm Hip-Hop Burlesque Fusion with Cruel Valentine $15
Students will learn how to incorporate elements of hip-hop dance within the context of the sensual allure of the striptease. The class will participate in a warm-up exercise focused on basic jazz and hip-hop technique and then learn a short combination to a popular song. No nudity is required for this class.
What to bring:
• Jazz sneakers, if available (any split-sole street sneaker will also do, but please bring something to wipe down the bottoms so as not to damage or soil the dance floor. Jazz shoes or ballet shoes are also acceptable. No heels!)
• Tight-fitting dance clothes (i.e. a leotard and tights, leggings and a tank top, etc.) so the instructor can observe and correct the positioning of your body with ease.
• A button down shirt or corset.
• A short, somewhat tight fitting skirt that is easily removed
• Leg warmers (if you’ve got them) that can be easily removed over shoes. A few extra pairs will be available.
• A back-closure bra with straps.
• A fun pair of panties that make you feel confident and sexy
• A pair of gloves, any type.
• A sturdy hat (a baseball cap, top hat or fedora….anything with a solid structure is fine).
• Please note that hair should be secured away from the face and neck and no dangling jewelry will be permitted.
3pm-4pm BEL CANTO BURLESQUE: Incorporating singing and theatrics into your burlesque without killing your chords! With Kyle Greer $15
For all those guys and gals who like to blend your burlesque act with being a chanteuse (or have always wanted to). Come and learn ways to make sure you have solid vocals whilst still delivering a fantastic routine. Bring songs you are working on (or would like to), and we’ll discuss and explore in a masterclass-style session. Make sure and bring your horned hat and heels!
