Our Mission
Posted by admin on November 23, 2009 | No Comments
Fella-Fem is a drag based art performance troupe. Our goal is to blur the lines of gender with sharp, intellectual, diverse, unforgettable, ultimately sexy performances. These performances include drag, theater, dance, comedy, burlesque, and spoken-word.
We are about community empowerment and equality for all.
Producer promoter Dicky Luv is committed to quality queer artistry in the Bay Area. Fella-Fem celebrates creativity, diversity, and promotes gender equality. We specifically focus on promoting queer artists across a multitude of artistic performance styles. Fella-Fem is working hard to support our local community through this medium.
History
Fella-Fem began in July 2008 with it’s first show at Velvet in Oakland. It all began with the artistic vision of Dicky Luv. Dicky formed a collective of the best drag performance artists and burlesque beauties in the east bay with help from partner Mitchell Brothers.
Dicky Luv began his/her journey in 2002 as a performance artist. Afterward, Dicky then joined The Sacramento Kings of Drag and went on to be a Slikk Boi (Both San Francisco Drag King award winning troupes).
After Mitchell founded, and Dicky spent a year with, the East Bay Kings Club they decided it was time to change directions and do their own show. Now Fella-Fem is pushing gender limits beyond it’s boundaries.
In 2008 Fella-Fem won 13th annual SF 2008 Drag King Contest with Dicky Luv, Mitchell Brothers, Il Nocturnal, and Adam Landher
